Are you wondering how you got that “Outstanding” comment?

Note: Remember a comment is not a grade. A comment is merely a comment.

Satisfactory – Most students start the year with a "Satisfactory."As long as you are doing your job you will get a satisfactory. You could have an A in my class and still get satisfactory. It’s not a bad thing at all. However, if you want to move it up a level see description for outstanding below.

Oustanding – Congratulations you went above and beyond!!! You have a high grade and…….Maybe you stopped to help instruct another student. Maybe you came to a before or after school event. Jazz Band, Advanced Band and Extra Help Night can all help you get outstanding. Maybe I have noticed that you are an especially hard worker who looks for opportunities to participate consistently in class. Maybe you are a section leader. There are other ways too. Whatever it is, I saw you go above and beyond in some way. I am truly impressed!

Needs Improvement  - For most people it is just that you continue to be unprepared for class. The best way to be successful in my class is to be participating. You can’t do that if you don’t have what you need to play. Please make sure whatever it is you fix it so I can start giving you a more positive report.
